vivo has officially introduced two new smartphones in India — the vivo Y31 5G and vivo Y31 Pro 5G — expanding its popular Y-series lineup. The duo brings bigger batteries, improved displays, and upgraded performance, all while keeping prices surprisingly affordable.
Vivo Y31 5G: A solid all-rounder with upgraded durability
The vivo Y31 5G arrives as the successor to last year’s Y29. It sports a 6.68-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits peak brightness, ensuring smoother scrolling and better outdoor visibility. There’s also an 8MP front camera housed in a punch-hole cutout for selfies and video calls.
Under the hood, vivo swaps out the Dimensity 6300 from the previous model for a more efficient Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, offering improved performance and battery management. Powering the device is a massive 6,500mAh battery with 44W fast charging, enough to keep it going all day.
Interestingly, the Y31 5G now comes with a much stronger IP68/69 rating, replacing the older IP64 — meaning it’s far more resistant to dust and water. On the back, you get a 50MP main camera paired with a secondary 0.08MP sensor for added depth.
The phone runs Android 15-based OriginOS 15 and comes in Rose Red and Diamond Green colors. Pricing starts at ₹14,999 ($170) for the 4GB/128GB variant and ₹16,499 ($187) for the 6GB/128GB model.
Vivo Y31 Pro 5G: Faster chip, better display
The vivo Y31 Pro 5G steps things up a notch with a larger 6.72-inch FHD+ display, offering sharper visuals, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,050 nits peak brightness.
It’s powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage options. Despite the “Pro” tag, the phone only has an IP64 rating, which is actually lower than the Y31 5G’s IP68/69 protection.
Camera-wise, it also sports a 50MP primary lens along with a 2MP depth sensor. The 6,500mAh battery supports 44W fast charging, same as its sibling.
The Y31 Pro 5G is available in Mocha Brown and Dreamy White colors. Prices start at ₹18,999 ($215) for the 8GB/128GB version and ₹20,999 ($238) for the 8GB/256GB model.
Verdict
Both phones offer impressive value, with the Y31 5G standing out for its stronger durability and massive battery, while the Y31 Pro 5G delivers better performance and a sharper display.
