Vivo X300 Pro Debuts with a Jaw-Dropping 200MP Camera — Here’s Why It Might Outshine the Ultra

Introduction

Vivo has officially launched its new flagship smartphones — the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro — and they’re closer than ever to the brand’s ultra-premium “Ultra” lineup. What’s grabbing everyone’s attention, though, is the X300 Pro’s incredible camera setup, which looks like a direct challenger to the X200 Ultra from earlier this year.

A Camera Beast Aiming for the Top

Vivo’s new X300 Pro packs serious photography power, featuring a 200MP HPB sensor co-developed with Samsung for its 85mm telephoto camera. It even supports the same clip-on telephoto extender lens that debuted with the X200 Ultra — a pro-level accessory for long-range shots. While the Pro’s f/2.67 aperture is slightly slower, it still delivers flagship-grade results.

Interestingly, its main camera might be even better than the Ultra’s. Vivo has swapped in Sony’s latest LYT-828 sensor, which offers faster aperture and improved light capture. The only compromise? The ultrawide lens, which uses a smaller sensor than the Ultra, so low-light performance might take a minor hit.

Still, with 4K 120fps and 10-bit Log video recording across all three rear lenses, the X300 Pro is easily one of the most capable camera phones Vivo has made — and it’s not just for the Ultra crowd anymore.

The Regular X300 Isn’t Far Behind

The standard X300 is no slouch either. It also features the 200MP Samsung sensor, this time as the main camera, alongside a 50MP telephoto and 50MP ultrawide lens setup. Even the selfie camera matches the Pro’s 50MP sensor, ensuring consistent image quality across the board.

Both phones support Vivo’s innovative telephoto extender lens, which attaches magnetically via a special case. When paired with the Pro or Ultra models, it delivers zoom shots that most smartphones simply can’t match. Vivo also offers a Photography Kit, which includes a grip with an integrated battery and an Iron Throne-like mounting case.

Power, Design, and Battery Tech

Under the hood, both the X300 and X300 Pro are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 — a direct rival to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. They share premium features such as 90W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, and ultrasonic fingerprint sensors.

Size-wise, the X300 Pro features a 6.78-inch display, while the regular X300 gets a more compact 6.31-inch screen. Both are impressively slim, under 8mm thick. Vivo also claims that its new silicon-carbon batteries — 6,510mAh (Pro) and 6,040mAh (X300) — last as long as traditional 7,500mAh and 7,000mAh batteries thanks to efficiency improvements.

Pricing and Availability

Both models are currently available for pre-order in China, running OriginOS 6, Vivo’s upgraded Android-based interface.

  • Vivo X300 starts at ¥4,399 (approx. ₹52,000 / $620)
  • Vivo X300 Pro is priced at ¥5,299 (approx. ₹63,000 / $745)
  • The telephoto lens costs ¥1,299 ($180), or ¥1,499 ($210) for the complete Photography Kit.

Vivo hasn’t confirmed global availability yet, but these flagships are expected to launch in other Asian and European markets soon — this time with OriginOS replacing Funtouch OS worldwide.

And yes, a Vivo X300 Ultra is reportedly already in the works for early 2026. But with the X300 Pro pushing camera tech to its limits, it’ll be interesting to see how Vivo plans to top this one.
