Introduction
The Vivo V15 Pro packs high-end features into an affordable mid-range package. Think of it as a more accessible version of the Vivo NEX — complete with that striking pop-up selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor. In fact, Vivo’s latest mid-ranger even manages to outperform its pricier sibling in a few areas.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 chipset, the V15 Pro balances performance and efficiency beautifully. While it skips a flagship processor to keep costs down, this 11nm chip offers smooth multitasking and solid gaming performance — easily one of the best in its class.
Design
The Vivo V15 Pro looks stunning from every angle. It nails the modern smartphone design language — gradient colors, a seamless all-screen front, and a sleek, glossy finish. Though it feels premium, the back is actually made of plastic rather than glass. Vivo hasn’t confirmed the material, which suggests it’s plastic, but it still feels great in hand and is less likely to crack if dropped (though it can scratch more easily).
The triple camera module and pop-up selfie mechanism are housed in a noticeable bump on the back. It’s not subtle, but it gives the phone a distinct personality. Our review unit in Topaz Blue looked particularly eye-catching with its subtle striped pattern that plays with light.
A pleasant surprise — the phone includes separate trays for dual SIM cards and a dedicated microSD card slot. You also get a dedicated voice assistant button, while the power and volume keys sit comfortably on the right side.
Display
The V15 Pro flaunts a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with a tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio and no notch in sight. Vivo calls it an Ultra FullView Display — basically, a nearly bezel-less screen offering an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Brightness and contrast are impressive for a mid-range phone, with peak brightness around 429 nits. While not the most color-accurate AMOLED panel we’ve seen, it delivers vibrant visuals perfect for streaming and gaming.
Battery Life
Battery performance is one of the V15 Pro’s strongest suits. Its 3,700mAh cell, paired with the efficient Snapdragon 675 chip and AMOLED display, delivers excellent endurance. The phone easily lasts a full day of moderate to heavy use.
Standby time is particularly impressive, and even web browsing and video playback perform above average for this price range.
Charging Speed
Despite Vivo’s “Dual-Engine Fast Charging” branding, the V15 Pro isn’t exactly a speed demon when it comes to recharging. Using the included 18W charger, the phone reaches around 38% in 30 minutes — acceptable, but not blazing-fast. The only real disappointment is the microUSB port, which feels outdated in 2019 when most competitors have moved to USB-C.
Software
The Vivo V15 Pro runs Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie. The interface has a strong iOS-inspired feel, with no app drawer and quick toggles accessed by swiping up from the bottom rather than down from the top.
You get several useful features like gesture-based navigation, an Always-on Display, and customizable Lockscreen Posters. The under-display fingerprint sensor works, but it’s not the fastest or most reliable compared to traditional sensors.
Performance
Vivo’s decision to go with the Snapdragon 675 proves smart. The octa-core CPU, built on an 11nm process, offers a great balance of performance and efficiency. Everyday tasks are smooth, gaming performance is solid, and multitasking feels snappy thanks to 6GB of RAM.
The chipset is newer and more advanced than the popular Snapdragon 660 and holds its own against pricier rivals.
Camera
Photography is where the V15 Pro shines. The triple-camera setup — a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 5MP depth sensor — handles both daylight and low-light shots admirably.
The main 48MP Samsung Bright GM1 sensor uses pixel-binning to produce detailed 12MP photos with great color and minimal noise. The ultra-wide lens adds versatility, while the depth camera helps capture clean portrait shots.
On the front, the 32MP pop-up selfie camera is more than just a gimmick — it delivers crisp, bright selfies with plenty of detail.
Video recording, however, is the weak spot. While footage quality is decent, audio recording could use serious improvement.
Verdict
The Vivo V15 Pro is a bold step forward in the mid-range smartphone space. With its pop-up camera, in-display fingerprint scanner, sleek AMOLED display, and dependable performance, it offers a flagship-like experience without the flagship price.
However, the use of a microUSB port and slower charging speeds hold it back slightly. Still, its great battery life, eye-catching design, and capable cameras make it one of the most interesting mid-range options around.
If Vivo trims the price a bit, the V15 Pro could easily become one of the best all-rounders in its class.
