Vivo V11 – Stunning Display, Hidden Fingerprint Sensor, and Powerful Mid-Range Performance

Introduction

The notch trend took off after Apple made it mainstream, but Vivo was one of the first Android brands to embrace it—and now it’s taking things a step further with the Vivo V11. Famous for being the first company to launch an under-display fingerprint scanner, Vivo is now bringing that flagship feature to the mid-range segment.

The Vivo V11 sits in a sweet spot between style and innovation. It isn’t a flagship, yet it packs two standout features — a gorgeous glass design and a Super AMOLED screen with one of the smallest notches we’ve ever seen. Inside, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor with AI capabilities, dual rear cameras, and a 25MP selfie camera.

Design

The Vivo V11 looks and feels premium thanks to its glass-sandwich design, a trend that’s becoming common even in mid-range phones. But what immediately grabs attention is the massive 6.41-inch AMOLED display with almost invisible bezels and a tiny “Halo” notch for the front camera.

Despite the large screen, the V11 feels compact and comfortable to hold. The minimalist notch design gives the phone a futuristic look, and Vivo has done a fantastic job minimizing the bezels to just 1.76mm on the sides and 3mm on the top. It’s easily one of the most elegant notched phones out there.

Display

The 6.41-inch Super AMOLED display offers a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (19.5:9 aspect ratio) and a crisp 402ppi pixel density. Colors are vibrant and punchy, making videos and images look lively. The display supports the DCI-P3 color gamut and is fairly accurate with natural tones, especially when color temperature is adjusted.

Brightness peaks at 418 nits, which is solid for an OLED panel, though it lacks an outdoor brightness boost like Samsung’s Galaxy series. Vivo includes a factory-applied screen protector, so users can enjoy some added peace of mind against scratches.

Battery Life

The Vivo V11 houses a 3,400mAh battery with Dual-Engine Fast Charging (18W), which works with any QuickCharge 3.0 adapter. It charges up to 45% in just 30 minutes, making it ideal for quick top-ups.

Battery endurance is one of the V11’s strongest suits — it delivers a 98-hour Endurance rating, performing excellently in call time, video playback, and standby tests.

Software

Running on Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4.5, the V11 offers a heavily customized UI inspired by iOS. There’s no app drawer, and the control center slides up from the bottom, but Vivo has added plenty of unique touches that make Funtouch distinct.

Features like Lockscreen Poster, Always-on Display, and customizable gestures make daily use more engaging. The under-display fingerprint sensor, though innovative, can feel a bit inconsistent at times, but it’s still an impressive inclusion for the price range.

Performance

Under the hood, the Vivo V11 runs the Snapdragon 660 AIE chipset paired with 6GB RAM and the Adreno 512 GPU. While its performance isn’t flagship-level, it’s more than capable of handling multitasking, gaming, and heavy apps smoothly.

Benchmark scores are slightly below other Snapdragon 660 devices like the Oppo R15 Pro because the V11’s cores are clocked at 1.96GHz instead of 2.2GHz. Still, real-world performance remains fast and responsive with excellent power efficiency.

Camera

The dual rear camera setup includes a 12MP primary sensor (f/1.8) and a 5MP depth sensor for portrait shots. The AI-powered camera app includes modes like Portrait, Pro (manual), Panorama, AI Face Beauty, and AR Stickers.

Selfie lovers will appreciate the 25MP front camera, which captures detailed images and offers fun beauty filters. The AI Face Beauty feature lets you adjust facial features like chin, eyes, and nose — something selfie enthusiasts will enjoy experimenting with.

Verdict

The Vivo V11 strikes a perfect balance between style and substance. With its stunning AMOLED display, sleek design, great battery life, and under-display fingerprint scanner, it feels ahead of its time for a mid-range smartphone.

While the fingerprint sensor can be hit-or-miss and global availability remains limited, the V11 still stands out as one of Vivo’s most innovative and visually striking mid-range phones yet.
