Redmi Note 14 Pro Review: Xiaomi’s Power-Packed Mid-Ranger That Feels Almost Flagship!

Introduction

If there’s one smartphone lineup that defines Xiaomi’s success story in India, it’s the Redmi Note series. From humble beginnings to becoming a household name, the Note lineup has been the backbone of Xiaomi’s rise. And now, the latest addition — the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ — aims to raise the bar once again.

Launched as part of the Redmi Note 14 trio (alongside the Note 14 and Note 14 Pro), the Note 14 Pro+ is the top-end model in the lineup. It comes with an impressive spec sheet that could easily pass for a flagship from a couple of years ago — and adds a few modern touches too.

Starting at Rs. 29,999, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. On paper, that might seem a bit limited today, but what it offers in performance, display, and battery more than makes up for it. Here’s my full review after spending time with the device.

Design: Premium Build, Flagship Feel

Highlights:

  • Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 (front) and Gorilla Glass 7i (back)
  • IP68 water and dust resistance
  • 162.53×74.67×8.75mm; 210.9 grams

Right off the bat, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ looks and feels premium. Xiaomi says the design is inspired by its flagship lineup, and you can see that influence clearly — it resembles a smaller sibling of the Xiaomi 13 Pro, minus the bulky camera housing.

The build quality is superb, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front and Gorilla Glass 7i on the back. It’s also IP68-rated, meaning it can survive accidental splashes and dust. At just over 210 grams, it’s hefty but well-balanced, and the curved edges ensure it sits comfortably in your hand.

The redesigned camera module looks refined and is surrounded by a metal ring reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch bezel. The tactile buttons are solid, and the screen dominates the front with slim bezels and a punch-hole selfie camera.

Display: Stunning Visuals with 3000-Nit Brightness

Specs:

  • 6.67-inch 3D Curved AMOLED display
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • HDR10+, Dolby Vision, TÜV Rheinland certified

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ sports a gorgeous 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1220×2712 pixel resolution and an incredible 3000 nits peak brightness — making it one of the brightest in this segment.

Whether it’s scrolling through social media, watching Netflix, or gaming, the visuals are sharp, vibrant, and fluid thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. The Widevine L1 certification ensures full-HD streaming on OTT platforms, and outdoor visibility is excellent.

Camera: Big Upgrades, Great for Everyday Use

Rear setup: 50MP main + 50MP telephoto + 8MP ultra-wide
Front camera: 20MP

For the first time, the Redmi Note series gets a telephoto lens — and that’s a big deal. The Note 14 Pro+ features a 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor, borrowed from the Xiaomi 14 Civi, along with a 50MP telephoto and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.

Photos in daylight look sharp and detailed, while low-light shots are decent too, thanks to improved processing. The 20MP selfie camera captures natural-looking portraits with good edge detection.

Video recording tops out at 4K 30fps, but stabilization and detail still leave room for improvement. It’s good enough for casual social media videos, but not quite pro-grade yet.

Performance: Smooth, Reliable, and Efficient

Chipset: Snapdragon 7s Gen 3
Variants: 8GB+128GB | 8GB+256GB | 12GB+512GB
Software: Android 14 with HyperOS 1.0.2

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip powers the Note 14 Pro+. Everyday performance is solid — apps open quickly, multitasking is seamless, and the phone handles gaming like a champ. Titles like BGMI, COD Mobile, and Genshin Impact ran smoothly on high settings, with no frame drops or overheating.

In benchmarks, it performs admirably for its price:

  • AnTuTu v10: 724,770
  • Geekbench Single: 1,168
  • Geekbench Multi: 3,238

The phone runs Android 14 with HyperOS, and Xiaomi promises 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches. That’s decent, but slightly behind rivals like OnePlus and Samsung.

HyperOS brings subtle visual refreshes, including a redesigned Control Centre and new Always-On Display animations. You can also sync apps and files across Xiaomi devices easily.

Battery: Massive and Long-Lasting

Battery: 6200mAh
Charging: 90W HyperCharge (charger in box)

This is where the Note 14 Pro+ truly shines. The 6200mAh battery is a huge leap from the previous generation’s 5000mAh cell — and it shows. Even with heavy usage (gaming, streaming, and camera use), it easily lasted over a full day with around 25% battery to spare.

With moderate use, you can easily stretch it to two days. And when you do need to charge, the 90W HyperCharge brick included in the box juices it up in just about 35 minutes.

Verdict: Feature-Packed and Worth Every Rupee

Starting at Rs. 29,999, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ offers unbeatable value for its feature set. You get a bright and vibrant display, a powerful Snapdragon processor, reliable cameras, and a massive battery — all wrapped in a premium IP68-rated design.

However, it’s not perfect. The UFS 2.2 storage feels dated, the software update policy could be better, and the preloaded apps (bloatware) still linger — though less intrusive than before.

If you’re looking for alternatives, consider the OnePlus 12R for raw power or the Xiaomi 14 Civi for a more refined experience under Rs. 40,000. But for under Rs. 30,000, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is easily one of the best all-rounders you can buy right now.

Pros:
Premium glass build with IP68 protection
Stunning AMOLED display with 3000-nit brightness
Great performance for the price
Massive 6200mAh battery + 90W fast charging
Decent camera performance

Cons:
UFS 2.2 storage feels outdated
Limited software support (3+4 years)
Some preloaded apps remain
Slightly heavy build

Bottom Line:
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ redefines what a mid-range phone can offer. With its stunning design, strong performance, and massive battery, Xiaomi’s latest Note easily sets a new benchmark in its segment.
