Introduction
Realme is bringing its GT 7 series to the global market, and we’ve had the chance to test the standard Realme GT 7 just in time for its big launch. But before you confuse it with the China-exclusive GT7, note that the global version (with a space in the name) comes with some tweaks — including a smaller 6.78-inch display, a slightly toned-down chipset, and an upgraded camera setup.
Instead of the Dimensity 9400+ found in the Chinese variant, the global GT 7 packs MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400e. The phone also adds a 50MP 2x telephoto lens on the back and a sharper 32MP selfie camera — a notable improvement for shutterbugs.
Design: Clean and Confident
The Realme GT 7 keeps things sleek and understated. It’s not trying too hard to stand out, but its large rectangular camera island gives it a bold, confident look. The text “HYPERIMAGE+” printed beside the camera hints at Realme’s focus on imaging, while the “GRAPHENE” label below reminds you of its advanced cooling system.
Available in IceSense Black and IceSense Blue, the latter has a soft, velvety finish that looks premium and feels great in hand. It’s subtle enough to fit in a professional setup yet stylish enough to draw attention.
Display: Bright, Smooth, and Vivid
Realme slightly scaled back the display compared to the Chinese version, but it’s still impressive. You get a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a stunning 6,000 nits peak brightness.
In real-world use, the display feels incredibly smooth and vibrant. We measured up to 1,451 nits in auto-brightness mode — bright enough for sunny outdoor use. It also supports 2160Hz PWM dimming and a 2600Hz touch response rate, ensuring silky-smooth scrolling and accurate touch controls.
Battery Life: Massive and Reliable
Powering the GT 7 is a 7,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery, which, while slightly smaller than the Chinese model’s 7,200mAh cell, still delivers excellent endurance. In our tests, the phone achieved an impressive 21 hours of active use, performing exceptionally well during video streaming and browsing.
Charging Speed: Blazing Fast
Realme includes a 120W SuperVOOC charger in the box — and it’s ridiculously fast. The company claims 0 to 50% in just 14 minutes, and our tests confirmed it’s close. We got to 56% in 15 minutes, 91% in 30 minutes, and a full charge in just 36 minutes.
That’s among the fastest charging times you’ll find on any smartphone right now.
Software: Realme UI 6.0 with Android 15 and AI Boost
The Realme GT 7 runs Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0, a polished and fluid interface with loads of customization. Realme promises four years of major Android updates and six years of security patches — something unheard of in this segment.
You also get a suite of AI-powered tools like AI Screen Recognition (similar to Google’s Circle to Search) and a new File Dock feature for quick saving and sharing. Realme’s UI feels cleaner, faster, and more refined than before.
Performance: MediaTek’s New Powerhouse Delivers
Under the hood, the Realme GT 7 features the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e, built on a 4nm process. It’s slightly less powerful than the Dimensity 9400+ but still packs serious punch — comparable, and sometimes even superior, to last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Our benchmark tests confirm this:
- AnTuTu: 2,141,861
- GeekBench 6: 7412
- 3DMark (Wild Life Extreme): 5383
Paired with up to 16GB RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, the GT 7 easily handles gaming, multitasking, and heavy-duty apps. However, sustained performance under long gaming sessions could be better — the phone throttles slightly when pushed hard.
Camera: Triple the Fun
The Realme GT 7 upgrades its camera setup to a versatile triple system:
- 50MP Sony IMX906 (main, OIS)
- 50MP Samsung JN5 (2x telephoto)
- 8MP ultrawide (OV08D10)
The main camera captures crisp, detailed shots with natural colors, while the new telephoto lens is a welcome addition for portraits and zoom. Video recording goes up to 8K@30fps and 4K@120fps, with Dolby Vision HDR and even a dedicated underwater mode.
Selfies are handled by a 32MP front camera, which performs well in both daylight and low-light conditions.
Verdict: A Near-Perfect Flagship With a Catch
The Realme GT 7 checks nearly every box — gorgeous display, blazing-fast charging, solid performance, excellent cameras, and long battery life. It’s easily one of the best all-rounders Realme has ever made.
However, it’s not flawless. The Dimensity 9400e can heat up under extended load, and for its ₹35,998 / $799 price tag, a 3x zoom lens would’ve been ideal.
Still, if you’re looking for a premium phone that balances performance, design, and battery endurance — and can grab it at a good deal — the Realme GT 7 is absolutely worth considering.
