OnePlus has officially unveiled OxygenOS 16 — its next big software update based on Android 16 — and it’s all about AI, smoother performance, and deeper customization. The company says the new version brings a smarter, faster, and more connected experience across devices.
Smarter AI Everywhere
OxygenOS 16 builds upon the AI tools first introduced with OxygenOS 15, enhancing existing ones and adding brand-new features. The Mind Space app now comes with Google Gemini integration, allowing users to search content, plan trips, and even create itineraries directly with Gemini. It also gets voice note support and the ability to create smart collections automatically.
Another big addition is AI Writer, which can help you draft creative text, proofread, or rewrite content across almost any app. There’s also AI Recorder, capable of transcribing recordings in real time while identifying different speakers — ideal for meetings or interviews.
In the Gallery app, OnePlus is introducing AI-powered photo editing that can enhance lighting in portraits, fix closed eyes, or even adjust facial expressions using data from past photos.
Fluid UI and Customization
Beyond AI, OxygenOS 16 improves the overall feel of the interface. The Parallel Processing feature from OxygenOS 15 now works across more parts of the UI, making the experience even smoother.
The lockscreen gets a major redesign, adding more clock styles, widgets, and support for live photos and videos. Meanwhile, the homescreen now supports customizable icon sizes with new interactive functions for quicker access.
Better Device Connectivity
OnePlus is also focusing on seamless cross-device experiences. Users can now share data between phones and tablets, access files directly from a Mac or PC, and even connect with an Apple Watch to manage notifications, calls, and messages.
Tablet users can expect improved multitasking and the same customizable home and lockscreen options as phones.
Beta Available Now
OnePlus has opened registrations for the OxygenOS 16 Beta program for early adopters. Stable versions are expected to roll out soon after testing wraps up.
With AI becoming a core part of OxygenOS 16, OnePlus is clearly aiming to make its ecosystem more intelligent, personalized, and connected than ever before.
