Introduction and Specs

Xiaomi has skipped a number and jumped straight from the 15 series to the new Xiaomi 17 lineup, clearly taking aim at Apple’s iPhone 17 series. The star of the show is the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, a brand-new addition that serves as a spiritual successor to the Xiaomi 15 Pro—only bigger, bolder, and far more ambitious.

Our review focuses on the Chinese variant, as the global model hasn’t been announced yet. That means some features, especially on the software side, could differ when it eventually makes its way to international markets. We picked up our review unit from a Mi Store in China, but many third-party resellers are already offering gray imports for those who can’t wait.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max currently sits at the top of the series, at least until the Ultra model arrives. It features a 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display, slightly larger than the 6.73-inch screen on last year’s Xiaomi 15 Pro. But that’s not the real showstopper here—the real surprise lies on the back.

Yes, Xiaomi is bringing back the secondary display—a 2.9-inch LTPO OLED panel with flagship-grade specs and a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s a bold move that helps the 17 Pro Max stand out in a market filled with look-alike flagships. Interestingly, Xiaomi has tried this before with the Mi 11 Ultra, but the new implementation feels far more refined, useful, and integrated into the design.Design

Aside from the eye-catching secondary display, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max sticks to a tried-and-tested formula—a glass front and back with a metal frame in between. The front is protected by Xiaomi’s Dragon Glass 3, a tough, ceramic-infused material that the brand claims is highly durable.

The back panel is made of fiberglass, similar to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and both the frame and rear have a smooth matte finish. It feels premium in hand, though a bit slippery. Thankfully, the frosted glass does a great job of hiding fingerprints—especially on our black review unit.

The phone is IP68-certified for water and dust resistance, and Xiaomi even promises it can survive submersion up to 6 meters for 30 minutes—better than what the standard certification guarantees.

You also get an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the display, now powered by Goodix’s latest sensor. It works quickly, even through screen protectors, fixing one of the biggest complaints about older ultrasonic readers.

[irp posts=”1830″]

Display

Both displays—the massive 6.9-inch front panel and the 2.9-inch rear one—are LTPO OLEDs with 120Hz refresh rate, 12-bit color depth, and full support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid. They’re completely flat with ultra-slim bezels, making the device look sleek and modern.

The rear screen may sound like a gimmick, but Xiaomi hasn’t compromised on quality. It’s perfect for quick info, notifications, or using the main camera for selfies. The front display offers 1200 x 2608px resolution, while the rear one packs 596 x 976px.

Brightness is another area where Xiaomi impresses—manual brightness hits 600 nits, while automatic mode can boost to over 1,000 nits across most of the screen and up to 3,500 nits peak on smaller highlights. The result? Excellent outdoor visibility and stunning HDR performance.

Battery Life

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max packs a massive 7,500 mAh battery—a first for Xiaomi’s Pro Max line—powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Despite being the first device we’ve tested with this SoC, battery performance is incredible.

In our tests, it achieved an Active Use Score of 20 hours and 50 minutes, putting it among the best performers we’ve ever seen, just behind the Oppo Find X9 Pro. Clearly, Xiaomi’s optimizations with the chipset, display, and HyperOS software are paying off.

Charging Speed

Charging is another highlight. The phone supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, both using Xiaomi’s proprietary tech. Despite the giant battery, it charges from 0 to 100% in just 39 minutes, faster than many rivals with smaller cells.

Even when using a standard 100W PD + PPS charger, the phone completed a full charge in 48 minutes, proving that you don’t always need Xiaomi’s HyperCharge adapter for top speeds. That’s a huge win for practicality.

Software

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max runs HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16, making it one of the first devices to ship with the latest software. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed global update support yet, but if history repeats, expect four major OS updates and six years of security patches.

However, since this is the Chinese ROM, there are some limitations. You only get English and Chinese languages, and several Google features like Android Auto, Google Discover, and QuickShare won’t work out of the box. Fortunately, you can still sideload Google Play via Xiaomi’s GetApps store and get most Google apps running—including Gemini and Wallet—with a bit of tweaking.

Still, this isn’t a full “global” Android experience, so those who prefer a Westernized interface might want to wait for the international version.

Performance

Performance-wise, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers top-tier results, but thermal management could be better. During stress testing, CPU performance dropped to around 50% after 10 minutes, while GPU stability remained around 60%. It’s not terrible, but not the best for extended gaming sessions either.

Cameras

The camera setup gets a few subtle tweaks from last year’s model. The main 50MP Light Fusion 950L sensor with Leica Summilux optics is new and larger but has a slightly smaller aperture. The telephoto camera also uses a bigger sensor thanks to a redesigned prism layout, though it too has a narrower aperture.

The ultrawide camera is a minor downgrade on paper—it has a tighter field of view and smaller aperture—but it retains autofocus. The biggest upgrade, however, is in the selfie department. Xiaomi finally replaces its long-running 32MP shooter with a new 50MP camera with autofocus.

Ironically, though, you might not even use it much—because that rear display makes it super easy to take high-quality selfies using the main cameras.

Verdict

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is a powerhouse that nails nearly every aspect of a flagship smartphone. It’s got a gorgeous display, fantastic battery life, blazing-fast charging, premium build, great speakers, and solid all-around performance. The rear display is the cherry on top, offering both style and functionality.

That said, it’s not perfect. The camera system, while good, doesn’t quite hit “best-in-class” status, especially with the telephoto lens falling short of expectations.

Still, if you want a feature-packed flagship that looks different and performs like a beast, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is one of the most exciting phones of 2025.

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro is Xiaomi’s latest budget-friendly tablet, and it’s shaping up to be one of the best value-for-money options around. With its sleek all-metal body, a large 12.1-inch display, a powerful new Snapdragon chip, and a massive 12,000mAh battery, it’s a solid upgrade over last year’s model.

Design: Premium Feel on a Budget

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro carries Xiaomi’s familiar design — a sturdy aluminum unibody with a matte finish that feels premium in hand. The matte texture also keeps fingerprints away, though it can feel a little slippery.

The tablet comes in Graphite Gray, Silver, and Lavender Purple color options. Despite having the same dimensions (279.8 x 181.7 x 7.5 mm) as its predecessor, the Pad 2 Pro is slightly heavier at 610 grams, thanks to its bigger battery.

There’s no water resistance, but Xiaomi claims the display supports “wet touch,” so it still works even with damp fingers — handy for kitchen or outdoor use.

Display: Smooth, Sharp, and Optional Matte Finish

The 12.1-inch IPS LCD display packs a sharp 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support for rich, detailed visuals.

You can even get a matte glass version that mimics a paper-like texture — ideal for stylus use and reducing reflections. However, the matte finish slightly limits viewing angles.

Xiaomi rates brightness at 500 nits (typical) and 600 nits (peak), and real-world testing confirmed 547 nits under bright light, making it easily usable outdoors.

[irp posts=”1830″]

Battery Life: A Powerhouse Performer

If endurance is what you need, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro delivers. The huge 12,000mAh battery easily lasts through long binge sessions, with Xiaomi claiming up to 14 hours of video playback, 16 hours of reading, or 105 hours of music playback.

In tests, the tablet achieved an impressive 12 hours and 55 minutes of active use, acing tasks like web browsing, video playback, and gaming.

Charging: Slow but Steady

The tablet supports 33W fast charging, but given the size of its battery, charging is on the slower side — 12% in 15 minutes, 20% in 30 minutes, and a full charge in about 3 hours.

Interestingly, it can also reverse charge other devices at up to 27W, effectively doubling as a power bank for your phone — a handy bonus feature.

Software: HyperOS 2 Brings Big Improvements

Running on Android 15 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, the tablet delivers smooth, fluid performance and a desktop-style Workstation mode for multitasking.

HyperOS 2 adds Google AI integration, split-screen and pop-up multitasking, and tighter cross-device connectivity under Xiaomi’s “Interconnectivity” system — perfect if you already use a Xiaomi phone or laptop.

Performance: Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Brings Power and Efficiency

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro is the first device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (4nm) chipset, offering around 30% better performance than the previous generation.

It comes in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants, using LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The Adreno 810 GPU enables smooth gaming and better efficiency, while the upgraded Hexagon NPU enhances on-device AI and real-time translation.

Under stress tests, the chip showed excellent thermal control, maintaining over 95% CPU and 99% GPU performance without throttling — a big win for extended gaming or creative tasks.

Camera: Basic but Functional

The tablet features an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and another 8MP front camera for video calls. Image quality is average, but it’s more than adequate for document scans and online meetings — exactly what you’d expect from a tablet at this price.

Verdict: The Best Value Tablet at €299

The Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro gets almost everything right — from its vibrant display and massive battery to solid performance and feature-rich software.

Add in Dolby Atmos speakers, optional keyboard and stylus support, and great build quality, and you’ve got one of the best mid-range Android tablets available right now.

At €299, it’s a total steal — especially since Xiaomi is currently offering a free Redmi Smart Pen or both the Pen and Keyboard, depending on the bundle.

If you want a tablet for streaming, gaming, studying, or work — without spending a fortune — the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is easily one of the smartest buys in 2025.

The Oppo Find X9 Pro has officially gone global, and it’s already turning heads — not just for its sleek design but for its massive 7,500mAh battery and a bold new 200MP telephoto camera that takes zoom photography to a new level. Oppo’s latest flagship promises top-tier endurance, a next-gen display, and a camera setup built for serious photographers.

Design: Boxy, Bold, and Premium

The Find X9 Pro ditches its predecessor’s curves for a flat, boxy design that instantly gives off iPhone vibes. Oppo has moved the triple-camera setup to the top-left corner, allowing room for the huge battery without making the phone bulky. Despite its size, the Find X9 Pro weighs just 224g, making it lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Both the front and back panels are made of Corning glass with an aluminum frame that resists fingerprints. The right side houses the volume rocker, power key, and Oppo’s new Quick button — a pressure-sensitive area designed for fast camera access.

The 6.78-inch OLED display dominates the front with slim bezels and sharp edges, giving it a modern, premium look.

Display: Bright, Sharp, and Ultra-Smooth

Oppo equips the Find X9 Pro with a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel offering a resolution of 1272×2772 pixels and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. With HDR support, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and a pixel density of 450ppi, it’s designed for smooth and flicker-free viewing.

Brightness levels impress as well — 800 nits in manual mode and up to 1,800 nits under bright sunlight. Whether you’re scrolling, gaming, or streaming HDR content, this display doesn’t disappoint.

[irp posts=”1798″]

Battery Life: A New Benchmark

The Find X9 Pro’s massive 7,500mAh silicon-carbon battery is one of the largest ever seen in a flagship phone — and it delivers. It earned an Active Use Score of nearly 22 hours, one of the best results recorded so far.

Web browsing and video playback times are particularly impressive, topping most charts. Even the gaming test returned near-record results. In short, the Find X9 Pro sets a new standard for endurance in flagship smartphones.

Charging Speed: Faster Than You’d Expect

Despite its huge battery, charging is surprisingly fast. The Find X9 Pro supports 80W SuperVOOC charging and 55W USB Power Delivery. Using an 80W adapter, a full charge takes just 1 hour and 7 minutes, while a standard PD charger does it in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The phone also supports 50W wireless charging (via Oppo’s AirVOOC pad) and 10W reverse wireless charging. You can also fine-tune your charging preferences, such as limiting maximum charge or enabling smart overnight charging.

Software: ColorOS 16 with Android 16

Running on ColorOS 16 (based on Android 16), the Find X9 Pro promises 5 major Android updates and 6 years of security patches.

The interface feels familiar but refined, with new lock screen clock styles, smart folder options, and smoother animations. Oppo has also added several AI-based enhancements, while keeping the UI clean and responsive.

Performance: Power Meets Efficiency

Under the hood, the Find X9 Pro packs MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9500 chipset, built on a 3nm process. It features an “All Big Core” setup with a 4.21GHz ultra-core, powerful Arm G1-Ultra GPU, and Mediatek NPU 990 for advanced AI tasks.

Paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage, performance is fluid across daily tasks, gaming, and multitasking. It’s fast, efficient, and more than capable of handling demanding apps.

Camera: A Photographer’s Dream

Oppo has gone all-in on the camera system this year. The Find X9 Pro features a new 200MP periscope telephoto camera (1/1.56″ sensor, f/2.1 aperture, 70mm equivalent) with 9cm macro focus and support for an optional telephoto extender lens that pushes optical zoom to 10x (230mm).

The main 50MP sensor is also upgraded (1/1.28″), offering brighter shots and better detail, while the ultrawide camera remains reliable as ever.

On the front, the selfie shooter jumps to 50MP with autofocus — a major upgrade over previous fixed-focus sensors. Overall, the camera system feels more versatile and powerful than before, excelling in both daylight and low-light conditions.

Verdict: Oppo’s Most Complete Flagship Yet

The Oppo Find X9 Pro is a near-perfect blend of innovation, performance, and practicality. Its massive battery, solid charging speeds, and exceptional cameras make it one of the most capable Android flagships of 2025.

It’s not without minor quirks — like throttling under extreme load or limited high-refresh-rate gaming — but for most users, it’s a dream device.

With its standout design, best-in-class endurance, and professional-grade camera system, the Find X9 Pro isn’t just another high-end phone — it’s a statement of how far Oppo’s flagship line has come.

Introduction

Samsung’s latest clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip7, is all about refinement — not revolution. It brings bigger screens, a larger battery, and a sleeker design, making it one of the most polished Flip phones to date. While it might not shake up the foldable market, it certainly reinforces Samsung’s dominance in this space.

For 2025, Samsung has also introduced a more affordable sibling — the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. We’ll review that later, but for now, let’s focus on the premium Flip7, which comes with several meaningful upgrades.

The outer display is now a massive 4.1 inches, finally stretching edge-to-edge without the awkward cutout. Inside, the foldable screen has grown slightly to 6.9 inches, offering more usable space. Powering it all is a larger 4,300mAh battery, surprisingly close in capacity to the much bigger Fold7. Despite this, the Flip7 manages to stay thinner and just as light as its predecessor — a remarkable engineering feat.

Design

Samsung has finally overhauled the Flip’s design, giving it a much more modern and complete look. The cover display now spans the entire top half, replacing the old “notch” style that made the previous Flip feel unfinished.

The Z Flip7 is slimmer than ever — just 6.5mm when unfolded and 13.7mm when folded, compared to 14.9mm on the Flip6. It’s also slightly wider and taller, making the display feel more natural and comfortable to use.

As for the crease, it’s still there — visible under certain angles but smooth enough not to distract in everyday use. The Flip7 feels solid, premium, and more refined than ever.

Display

This is the Flip everyone’s been waiting for. The 4.1-inch cover screen finally goes full width, and it’s now a 120Hz OLED panel — a huge leap from the Flip6’s 60Hz display. You can use it for notifications, widgets, or even selfies with the rear cameras.

Inside, the main 6.9-inch foldable OLED display offers a 21:9 aspect ratio and HDR10+ support. Brightness peaks at around 1,500 nits, keeping visibility excellent outdoors. It’s the same level of brightness as last year, but with a noticeably larger display area — about 10% more usable space.

[irp posts=”1981″]

Battery Life

Samsung has boosted the Flip’s endurance with a 4,300mAh battery, a notable upgrade from the Flip6’s 4,000mAh unit. In our tests, the Flip7 lasted around 3 hours longer in both video playback and web browsing.

While it still can’t beat Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra in battery life, the Flip7’s performance is respectable and reliable. Its overall Active Use Score of nearly 12 hours is a clear improvement over previous generations.

Charging Speed

Here’s where Samsung still refuses to change. The Z Flip7 supports 25W wired charging, which feels painfully slow compared to rivals. A full charge takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, with just 46% reached in 30 minutes.

Wireless charging remains capped at 15W (despite some database confusion suggesting 5W). Samsung’s battery care features are thoughtful, though — offering adaptive charging limits to prolong battery health over time.

Software

The Z Flip7 debuts with Android 16 and One UI 8, making it one of the first phones to ship with Google’s newest Android version. Samsung promises seven years of OS updates and security patches, matching the Galaxy S25 lineup.

One UI remains one of the most polished Android experiences out there — clean, fluid, and loaded with useful features. However, Samsung still limits what you can do on the cover display, sticking mostly to widgets instead of full app access (unlike Motorola’s Razr).

Performance

In a major shift, the Z Flip7 runs on Samsung’s own Exynos 2500 chipset, built on a 3nm process for better efficiency. It’s the first time a Galaxy Flip ditches Qualcomm entirely.

The Exynos 2500 features a 10-core CPU, paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Performance feels snappy, gaming runs smoothly, and multitasking is effortless — though the phone can heat up during prolonged heavy use.

Camera

Unlike the Fold7, which gets upgraded cameras this year, the Z Flip7 carries over the same 50MP main sensor from last year’s Flip6. It delivers sharp, colorful photos and decent 2x zoom performance, though it lacks a dedicated telephoto lens.

The ultrawide camera remains unchanged and still lacks autofocus, while the selfie camera performs well for casual shots and video calls. You can also use the main cameras for selfies via the cover screen — a big plus for vloggers and creators.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 might not be a radical upgrade, but it’s easily the most refined Flip yet. The bigger, faster cover screen, larger battery, and sleeker design make it a joy to use — and it finally feels like the Flip series has matured.

Of course, slow charging and thermal throttling still hold it back, and Samsung continues to restrict the full power of that gorgeous outer display. But when you combine its premium design, long-term software support, and versatile camera, the Z Flip7 remains the best clamshell foldable you can buy — even if it comes at a premium.

Introduction

If you ask most smartphone users what they want improved, the answers are usually “battery life” and “camera.” Samsung seems to agree — because that’s exactly where the Galaxy Z Flip6 gets its biggest upgrades this year.

The 2024 Flip comes with a slightly larger battery, a higher-resolution main camera, and — for the first time — an IP rating that offers protection against both water and solids. It’s not full dust protection just yet, but it’s progress.

Of course, a new year means a new chipset. The Flip6 runs on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, paired with 12GB of RAM across all variants — more than what you get in some Galaxy S24 models. So, what’s new here is refinement rather than revolution.

Design

Samsung didn’t reinvent the wheel this time — the Z Flip6 looks very similar to its predecessor, focusing on small but meaningful design tweaks.

The aluminum frame now has a brushed finish instead of glossy, the camera rings are more prominent, and the body folds completely flat thanks to the hinge redesign introduced last year.

Dimensions remain almost identical to the Z Flip5 — 14.9mm thick when folded and weighing just 187g, despite the bigger battery. It still feels sleek, compact, and easy to handle for a foldable.

The crease on the inner screen is still there — and while it’s slightly noticeable, most users won’t think twice about it after a few days. However, rival clamshells like Motorola’s Razr 50 Ultra still offer a smoother look out of the box.

Display

Samsung hasn’t made major display changes this year. You get the same 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, paired with a 3.4-inch AMOLED cover screen that handles notifications, widgets, and quick tasks.

Brightness, however, has improved. The main screen now reaches up to 760 nits manually and over 1,000 nits automatically, matching the Galaxy S24’s vivid output. The result is a brighter, punchier viewing experience both indoors and outdoors.

[irp posts=”2050″]

Battery Life

The 4,000mAh battery is one of the Z Flip6’s biggest upgrades — an 8% jump over the previous 3,700mAh cell. It’s not a huge leap, but it makes a real difference in day-to-day use.

Samsung’s latest foldable now lasts longer in most screen-on tests compared to the Flip5, though rivals like the Oppo Find N3 Flip and Razr 50 Ultra still outperform it slightly. Nonetheless, it’s a solid improvement that helps ease battery anxiety.

Charging Speed

Here’s where Samsung continues to frustrate. The Z Flip6 still tops out at 25W wired charging, which feels outdated in 2024 when competitors boast 45W, 67W, or even higher speeds.

A full charge takes around 1 hour and 38 minutes, slower than most rivals. It does support 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, but Samsung’s “slow and steady” approach doesn’t exactly excite anyone anymore.

Software

Running Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1, the Galaxy Z Flip6 delivers Samsung’s familiar, polished experience — with a few extras for foldables.

Samsung has also promised seven years of software updates, matching its flagship S-series commitment. That’s impressive, though it remains to be seen how well today’s hardware will handle software seven years from now.

The cover screen — or “Flex Window,” as Samsung calls it — still isn’t as flexible as Motorola’s, which allows full app use. Samsung’s version remains widget-based, though you can now access more apps and quick functions than before.

Performance

Powering the Z Flip6 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy — a boosted version of the already top-tier chipset. The result? Blazing-fast performance across the board.

Every Flip6 model comes with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Apps launch instantly, multitasking is effortless, and gaming performance is flagship-level.

Thermals are well managed, too — though the compact form factor means the device can get slightly warm under extended heavy use.

Camera

This year, Samsung has finally given the Flip series a meaningful camera upgrade. The new 50MP main sensor is the same one found in the Fold6 and several Galaxy S-series models, replacing the old 12MP shooter.

The result? Sharper images, better low-light detail, and a noticeable improvement in zoom quality — though it still lacks a dedicated telephoto lens.

You still get a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP front camera, both producing reliable shots. Using the cover screen as a viewfinder for selfies continues to be one of the Flip’s coolest tricks.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 doesn’t reinvent the foldable, but it doesn’t need to. With a better camera, bigger battery, and smoother software, it’s the most refined Flip yet — even if the excitement factor is fading.

The slow charging speed remains its biggest flaw, and the cover display could be more versatile. Still, the Flip6 delivers a near-flagship experience in a compact, stylish package that folds neatly into your pocket.

If you’re upgrading from the Flip4 or older, this is a big step forward. But Flip5 users might want to wait another year — unless you really want that camera bump and extra endurance.

Introduction

What do you do when your foldable phone already dominates the market with barely any serious competition? According to Samsung — not much. The Galaxy Z Flip5 may not reinvent the wheel, but it refines it in all the right ways.

The 2023 Flip gets two major upgrades — a larger, more useful cover display and a new hinge that folds flat. These changes might sound small, but they make a big difference in everyday use. Add in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, double the base storage (256GB), and a few minor tweaks, and you’ve got a sleeker, smarter foldable that finally feels complete.

Design: Flat, Flashy, and Finally Refined

The Z Flip5 revolves around two major design pillars — the bigger Flex Window cover screen and the all-new gapless hinge.

The external display now measures 3.4 inches, though its unusual folder-like shape curves around the cameras. It’s not as seamless as the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra’s edge-to-edge look, but it’s still a huge improvement over last year’s tiny screen. You can finally use it for widgets, quick replies, and even as a proper camera viewfinder — something the Flip4 struggled with.

The second major upgrade is the hinge. Samsung’s new Flex Hinge lets the phone fold completely flat, eliminating the awkward wedge-shaped gap of previous generations. Not only does it look better, but it also protects the inner display from dust and debris. Despite the new design, Samsung has maintained the IPX8 water resistance, proving you can have both durability and elegance.

Display: Brighter and Smarter

The outer Flex Window is one of the Flip5’s biggest highlights. It boasts a 3.4-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 720×748 pixels. While it’s not as sharp or fast as the internal display (it’s limited to 60Hz), it’s bright enough — peaking at over 1,000 nits during testing.

Inside, the 6.7-inch foldable AMOLED display remains largely the same, with one key upgrade — brightness. It now hits 1,750 nits peak, a noticeable jump from last year. Colors are vivid, the contrast is deep, and scrolling feels buttery smooth at 120Hz.

[irp posts=”2071″]

Battery Life: Same Capacity, Better Efficiency

Samsung hasn’t changed the 3,700mAh battery from the Z Flip4, but thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s power efficiency, you’ll see improved endurance. It’s still not class-leading — rivals like the Oppo Find N3 Flip (4,300mAh) last longer — but it’s decent for a compact foldable.

Charging remains at 25W wired and 15W wireless. Using Samsung’s standard 25W charger, it reaches around 50% in 30 minutes, and it also supports reverse wireless charging for earbuds and wearables.

Software: Smarter Cover Screen Experience

The Z Flip5 runs Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1, optimized for foldables. Samsung has added several custom features for the cover screen, making it far more functional than before.

You can now browse widgets, view notifications, control media, and even access limited app support — though it’s still not as open as Motorola’s approach. The interface remains clean and customizable, giving you plenty of control over what appears on the Flex Window.

Performance: Flagship Power Inside

Under the hood, the Flip5 packs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage options. This special edition chip runs slightly faster than the standard version, offering smoother multitasking and better gaming performance.

In benchmarks, the Flip5 performs on par with the Galaxy S23, making it one of the fastest clamshell foldables available. Whether it’s photo editing, gaming, or multitasking, the Flip5 handles it all effortlessly.

Camera: Familiar Hardware, Better Results

The Z Flip5 uses the same 12MP main + 12MP ultrawide camera setup as its predecessor. However, image processing improvements and the new cover screen change the experience dramatically.

The larger outer display acts as a viewfinder, letting you capture high-quality selfies using the main cameras — a huge plus for social media users. Image quality has improved slightly, with better detail and color accuracy, though low-light photos still trail behind the Galaxy S23 lineup.

Verdict: Subtle But Smart Upgrades

Samsung didn’t need to reinvent the Galaxy Z Flip — it just needed to make it more practical. And with the larger cover screen and flat-folding hinge, the Z Flip5 finally delivers on that promise.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip boosts performance and efficiency, while the refined design and improved usability make this the best Flip yet. Sure, it’s not a revolutionary leap, but it’s a meaningful evolution — and one that cements Samsung’s lead in the foldable market.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to go foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is the one to get. Just keep an eye out for those post-launch discounts or bundle offers — they’ll make the deal even sweeter.

Introduction

Samsung’s latest Unpacked event brought two big updates to its foldable lineup — the Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Galaxy Z Flip4. While the Fold continues to cater to those who want a phone-tablet hybrid, the Flip is all about compact style and nostalgia — a modern twist on the classic flip phone.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it perfects the formula Samsung introduced with the Z Flip3. With upgrades to the battery, charging speed, camera, and chipset, this new foldable finally feels like a truly refined flagship.

It’s powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and boasts improvements across all the right areas — low-light photography, endurance, and efficiency. At the same time, it retains the things people already loved: a gorgeous AMOLED display, IPX8 water resistance, and that iconic folding design.

Design: Sleeker, Stronger, and More Refined

At first glance, the Galaxy Z Flip4 looks nearly identical to last year’s Flip3 — and that’s not a bad thing. Samsung has fine-tuned the design instead of overhauling it.

The new Armor Aluminum frame is stronger and flatter, paired with Gorilla Glass Victus+ panels that now have a matte finish for better grip and fewer fingerprints. The hinge is slightly smaller, giving the phone a more compact look, and the bezels around the main screen have been reduced as well.

Samsung still warns users not to remove the pre-applied screen protector from the foldable display, as doing so could cause damage. Thankfully, the new protective layer feels smoother and less smudgy than before.

The Flip4 is available in multiple elegant colors, and its compact size makes it easy to slip into any pocket — even if you’ll want to handle it with care.

Display: Same Great Screen, Smoother Than Ever

The Galaxy Z Flip4 features two displays — a small external one and a large foldable internal screen.

The 1.9-inch Super AMOLED cover display is identical to last year’s, offering 512×260 resolution and 60Hz refresh. It’s handy for quick notifications, calls, music controls, and even selfies.

The main 6.7-inch Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is stunning, offering a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness. Samsung has also made the refresh rate more dynamic, allowing it to drop as low as 1Hz to save battery life.

Colors are vibrant, contrast is deep, and visibility in sunlight is excellent — everything you’d expect from a flagship Samsung OLED panel.

[irp posts=”2066″]

Battery Life: Finally Lasts Longer

One of the biggest complaints about the Z Flip3 was its short battery life. Samsung listened. The Flip4 packs a 3,700mAh battery, up from 3,300mAh, and now supports 25W fast charging.

It’s not the fastest in the industry, but it’s a big step up. Using Samsung’s 25W charger, you can get about 55% charge in 30 minutes. There’s also 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging for your Galaxy Buds or smartwatch.

With the more efficient Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, the Flip4 performs noticeably better in endurance than its predecessor.

Software: One UI Made Smarter

The Flip4 ships with Android 12 and Samsung’s One UI 4.1.1, offering a familiar and polished experience.

The cover display has become even more useful — you can now access quick toggles, Samsung Pay, and widgets for music, weather, health, and more. The Flex Mode, which lets you use the phone partially folded for hands-free photos or video calls, remains one of the most practical foldable features around.

Samsung’s software support is also among the best, promising four major Android updates and five years of security patches.

Performance: Flagship Power in a Foldable Frame

The Galaxy Z Flip4 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Performance is excellent — apps open instantly, multitasking feels smooth, and gaming performance is top-tier. However, due to the compact internal design and limited cooling, the Flip4 can heat up during extended use, leading to some thermal throttling under heavy load.

Still, for everyday use, it’s every bit as powerful as the Galaxy S22 series.

Camera: Small Upgrade, Big Difference

Samsung didn’t overhaul the camera setup but made meaningful improvements. The Flip4 still has two 12MP cameras on the back — wide and ultrawide — plus a 10MP selfie camera on the main screen.

The main sensor is now larger (1/1.76” with 1.8µm pixels), allowing for 65% more light capture and significantly better low-light performance. Photos are sharper, more detailed, and have better dynamic range.

The ultrawide camera and front selfie shooter remain unchanged, but image processing has improved thanks to the new chipset. The Flip4’s cameras may not match the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but they’re more than capable for everyday and social media use.

Verdict: The Foldable to Beat

The Galaxy Z Flip4 marks a turning point for Samsung’s clamshell foldable. It’s no longer just a “fashion statement” — it’s a fully capable flagship smartphone.

What’s Great:

Compact, stylish, and durable design

IPX8 water resistance

Brighter, smoother AMOLED display

Improved battery life and faster charging

Excellent overall camera performance

Flagship-level Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset

What Could Be Better:

Still no telephoto lens

Some thermal throttling

Crease is still visible

Expensive compared to non-foldables

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 feels like the most mature and well-balanced foldable phone yet. It’s practical, powerful, and packed with personality. If you’ve been waiting to buy your first foldable, this might just be the one to get.

Samsung’s latest foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, is a bold step toward making foldable phones mainstream. With a starting price of $999 (₹84,999), it’s not cheap, but it’s the most affordable foldable phone Samsung has ever made—and arguably the first one that feels ready for everyday users.

Sleeker, Smarter, and Stronger

The Z Flip3 isn’t just about flashy design; it’s also smarter and tougher than before. Samsung has added IPX8 water resistance, making it the first Flip to survive accidental splashes. It also comes with a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, a larger cover screen, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor under the hood.

That said, not everything has improved. The camera setup remains similar to the original Z Flip, meaning no telephoto lens and no autofocus on the ultrawide camera. Charging is still limited to 15W, and the 3,300mAh battery struggles to keep up with the power-hungry hardware.

Design: Where Fashion Meets Tech

The Z Flip3 5G is clearly built to turn heads. It’s available in seven color options, including Phantom Black, Green, Lavender, and Cream. Its compact, foldable design makes it one of the most pocketable smartphones you can buy—though maybe not ideal for tight jeans.

The new Hideaway Hinge feels sturdy and allows the phone to stay open at different angles—perfect for hands-free selfies or video calls. While there’s still a visible crease across the middle of the display, it’s easy to ignore after a few days of use.

Display: Bright, Smooth, and Beautiful

Samsung finally brought its high refresh rate magic to the Flip series. The 6.7-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel offers 120Hz refresh rate and up to 935 nits brightness, making it one of the brightest and smoothest foldable screens around.

Colors look vivid and sharp, and the display feels just as premium as Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series. The outer cover display is now much more useful too—it shows notifications, widgets, and even doubles as a mini viewfinder for quick selfies.

[irp posts=”2066″]

Battery and Charging: Small but Manageable

At 3,300mAh, the Flip3’s battery is on the smaller side, and you’ll feel it. Expect around 10 hours of web browsing or 12 hours of video playback, which is below average for a flagship phone.

Charging is equally modest—15W wired and wireless charging support mean you’ll wait about 90 minutes for a full charge. It’s not ideal, but for light to moderate users, it’ll last a day.

Software: Foldable-Friendly One UI

Running on Android 11 with One UI 3.1.1, the Flip3 feels smooth and intuitive. Samsung has optimized the software for the foldable design—features like Flex Mode let you split apps between the top and bottom halves of the screen, and the cover display now supports notifications, widgets, and Samsung Pay gestures.

Performance: Flagship Power Inside

With the Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage, performance is flagship-level. Apps launch fast, multitasking feels effortless, and even heavy games run smoothly. Unlike other Samsung phones, there’s no Exynos version here—everyone gets the faster Snapdragon chip.

Camera: Good Enough, But Not Great

The Z Flip3 keeps things simple with two 12MP rear cameras—a standard wide and an ultrawide lens—and a 10MP front camera. Photos look good in daylight, with Samsung’s usual punchy colors, but the lack of autofocus on the ultrawide and no telephoto lens are noticeable downsides.

Night shots are decent, but don’t expect Galaxy S21 Ultra-level detail. Still, using the cover screen as a viewfinder for main camera selfies is a clever and fun touch.

Verdict: Coolness Comes at a Cost

The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G isn’t perfect—it has average battery life, slow charging, and a dated camera setup. But it’s also the most stylish and practical foldable phone yet. It’s water-resistant, compact, and packed with flagship-level performance.

At under $1,000, the Z Flip3 finally makes foldables feel attainable, not futuristic. If you value style, innovation, and that satisfying fold more than all-day battery life, this is the one to get.

Sirish Chandran

I’m Sirish Chandran, lead author of techtipsguide.com.

Introduction

Samsung made headlines last year with the Galaxy Fold — a futuristic phone that bent the rules (and quite literally, its screen). After fixing its early hiccups, it became a turning point for smartphone innovation.

Now, Samsung is back with its second foldable — the Galaxy Z Flip — a phone that merges vintage flip-phone charm with next-gen folding tech. With a sleek clamshell design, an upgraded hinge, and a flexible AMOLED display, the Z Flip is both a fashion statement and a glimpse into the future of smartphones.

It sports a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, a 10MP punch-hole selfie camera, and dual 12MP rear cameras. There’s also wireless charging, reverse wireless charging (PowerShare), and a 3,300mAh battery — though the latter feels a bit underwhelming for a flagship.

Samsung has improved the hinge mechanism and introduced a new material called Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) to protect the screen. However, it’s still not as tough as Gorilla Glass, so scratches are a real concern.

Design: Nostalgia Meets Innovation

Let’s be honest — the design is the main reason anyone buys the Galaxy Z Flip. When folded, it’s compact and pocketable. When opened, it’s stunning.

Samsung’s Hideaway Hinge lets you fold the phone at multiple angles, thanks to its new “Flex Mode.” The hinge has built-in brushes that keep dust and debris out — a major upgrade over the first Galaxy Fold.

Both halves are protected by Gorilla Glass 6, framed in aluminum, and finished with a glossy polish that screams premium. The hinge design is also cleverly hidden when opened, making it look smooth and futuristic.

Display: A Folding Marvel

Open the Z Flip, and you’re greeted by a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a tall 21.5:9 aspect ratio. It’s stunning, bright, and flexible — literally.

The screen uses Samsung’s new Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) under a thin protective plastic layer. But be warned — this layer is delicate. Even a fingernail can leave a mark if you’re not careful. Samsung advises users not to press too hard or install third-party screen protectors.

The crease in the middle is noticeable to the touch, but not a deal-breaker in daily use. The display isn’t quite as crisp as the Galaxy S series, but considering it folds in half — it’s still a technological marvel.

Buyers also get one free professional screen protector installation and a one-time $119 display replacement option, which is reassuring.

Battery Life & Charging

The Z Flip houses a 3,300mAh dual-battery system, split between the top and bottom halves. It supports 15W fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging — handy for topping up your Galaxy Buds or smartwatch.

Battery life is decent but not exceptional. Expect around a day and a half of regular use, with 85 hours of endurance in testing. Talk time and browsing scores are impressive, but video playback drains the battery faster than expected.

If you’re always on the move, keeping a power bank nearby might be a smart idea.

Software: One UI 2.1 with a Foldable Twist

Running Android 10 with One UI 2.1, the Z Flip offers a smooth and refined Samsung experience. One UI has come a long way — it’s cleaner, faster, and packed with customization options.

“Flex Mode” is where the Z Flip stands out. When the phone is half-folded, certain apps (like the camera and YouTube) split their UI across the two halves — controls on one side, content on the other.

Biometric security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and there’s also face unlock. You can even assign gestures like pulling down notifications with a fingerprint swipe — small touches that make the tall screen easier to manage.

Performance: Flagship Power Inside

Under the hood, the Z Flip packs a Snapdragon 855+ processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. It’s powerful, fast, and handles everything — from multitasking to gaming — without breaking a sweat.

Performance-wise, it sits comfortably among 2019’s flagships, though it’s not quite as powerful as Samsung’s newer S20 or S25 series. Still, everyday performance is buttery smooth.

Camera: Compact Yet Capable

The Z Flip’s dual 12MP cameras (wide + ultra-wide) deliver sharp and vibrant photos, similar to the Galaxy S10. However, there’s no telephoto lens or variable aperture like Samsung’s top-tier models.

The 10MP selfie camera performs well, offering wide-angle shots for group selfies. The outer mini display can also act as a viewfinder, so you can snap selfies with the main camera — a clever touch.

Overall, the camera setup is solid, though not ground breaking.

Verdict: A Bold Step into the Future

At $1,380, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is equal parts luxury gadget and engineering marvel. It’s not perfect — the screen is delicate, the battery modest, and durability still a concern. But it’s also unlike any other smartphone on the market.

This phone isn’t about practicality — it’s about standing out. Whether it’s nostalgia for the classic flip design or the thrill of owning something futuristic, the Z Flip delivers a unique experience few phones can match.

If you want a phone that turns heads and folds neatly into your pocket, this is it. Just be ready to pay for the privilege — and handle it with care.
